Taylor Swift, 'Mean' -- New Song
iTunesTaylor Swift gets to go back in time and tell some jerk from her past "I told you so" on 'Mean,' the latest track released from 'Speak Now,' her forthcoming album.
The song is the fifth track revealed from the album, following the title track, 'Back to December,' 'Innocent' and the lead single 'Mine.'
The straight-ahead country instrumentation -- heavy on mandolins and violins -- blends with the sunny, upbeat melody of the song to deliver a strong, but good-natured kiss-off to a loudmouth who apparently didn't believe in Taylor's bright future:
"Someday I'll be living in a big old city / And all you're ever gonna be is mean / Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me / And all you're ever gonna be is mean / Why you gotta be so mean?"
