Waka Waka is the official song for the FIFA World Cup 2010 which will take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa.
Shakira samples an African song, Zangalewa, and keeps the African voices in the chorus.
At the opening concert of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa with other artists like Alicia Keys, John Legend and the Black Eyed Peas. The song Time for Africa / Esto es África (Waka Waka) has been recorded specially for the occasion with South African group Freshlyground and will be the official anthem of the competition. As in 2006, Shakira also participate in the tournament’s final concert.
