Times of Grace, 'Strength in Numbers' -- New Song
Courtesy of Roadrunner RecordsRecently formed group Times of Grace realize there is 'Strength in Numbers,' as band member Adam Dutkiewicz (also Killswitch Engage guitarist) reunites with Jesse Leach (Killswitch's former lead singer) on this new song.
'Strength in Numbers' is the first taste of the promised, creative left turns within the duo's forthcoming debut album, 'The Hymn of a Broken Man.'
Intense, militaristic drumbeats rage alongside breakneck thrashing guitar rhythms throughout the track, as you'd expect. But there's a depth and sophistication in the layered vocal melodies that gives the song's call for unity extra power:
"There is a strength in numbers / We must unite mankind /There is a strength in numbers / Our faith lies deep inside / We struggle / We suffer / We must come together / We will live forever!"
The pair are best known for their work on Killswitch Engage's 2002 album 'Alive or Just Breathing,' but Leach left the band soon afterward in order to deal with exhaustion and depression. Killswitch went on to even greater success with new lead singer Howard Jones (no, not this guy) while Leach went on to form metalcore outfit The Empire Shall Fall.
They seem very happy for the chance to work together again. "In all my life, I have yet to write a record that bares my soul as much as this record does," Leach claims. "Adam and I had a real spiritual connection while making this, and I know that it comes through in the performances and lyrics.

Mayday Parade, 'In My Head' (Jason Derulo) -- New Song
AmazonPop punk outfit Mayday Parade release their rendition of Jason Derulo's No. 5 hit 'In My Head.' The new song is featured on Fearless Records 10th 'Punk Goes... ' compilation series, fittingly called 'Punk Goes Pop Volume 3,' in stores Nov. 2.
The already riff-heavy track is far from overly produced, with improvised percussion, an electric guitar solo and blaring vocals driving the track. Vocalist Derek Sanders, bassist Jeremy Lezno, guitarists Alex Garcia and Brooks Betts and drummer Jake Bundrick rock out on what was formally an R&B, pop hit, giving us a live-sounding rendition.
"We love doing Punk Goes because they're always such a blast to rearrange and record," says guitarist Brooks Betts. "And because the songs are proven hits there's no pressure as to whether people will like them or not. Music is supposed to be fun and these covers are a blast"
'Punk Goes Pop Volume 3' includes other Billboard Top 10 hits, such as 'Hot 'N Cold,' 'Bad Romance,' and 'Run This Town,' covered by the rock outfits The Ready Set, Woe Is Me, Of Mice & Men and more.

Elvis Presley, 'Suspicious Minds' -- New Song From Cirque du Soleil
AmazonWe all remember Elvis Presley's last No. 1 single, 1969's soulful and emotionally-driven 'Suspicious Minds.'
Now the track is has been reworked by producer Brendan O'Brien and the Cirque du Soleil franchise for the upcoming new album fittingly titled 'Viva ELVIS - The Album,' in stores Nov. 9.
While Grammy Award winning producer O'Brien mixed 'Suspicious Minds' and two other tracks on 'Viva ELVIS,' other tracks were mixed by Serban Ghenea, as well as Robert Meunier & Erich van Tourneau -- with van Tourneua helming the entire project.
With the help of assistant producer and assistant arranger Hugo Bombardier, van Tourneau spent over 3,000 hours reviewing Elvis' entire discography, as well as films, concert recordings, interviews and even home recordings to rework with Cirque du Soleil's raw material (17,000 samples of Elvis songs). The end result was a new sound that respects Elvis' ability to master Delta blues, rockabilly, gospel, Southern folk and pop, while incorporating more modern genres of garage rock, punk, urban and even hip-hop.
Reworked versions of 'Blue Suede Shoes,' 'That's Alright,' 'Heartbreak Hotel,' 'Love Me Tender,' 'Bossa Nova,' 'Burning Love,' 'Can't Help Falling in Love' and interludes based on 'Memories' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone,' as well as others are found on the album.

Andrew and John, the latter of whom sings lead on the track, only wrote enough music for the length of the commercial, so there is no full-length version of the song to be found or purchased.
However, the two also form the alternative-blues band Message of the Blues, whose 2008 album 'Da Illst' is available for purchase on iTunes.

Sugarland, 'The Incredible Machine' -- New Album
AmazonSugarland release 'The Incredible Machine' today, Oct. 19, the duo's forth studio album. Jennifer Nettles' powerhouse vocals are evident, as well as the number of arena rock-laden tracks, like the opener 'All We Are,' the title track or even the pop-punk 'Find the Beat Again.'
But with elements of today's mainstream pop, '80s rock, Auto-Tune, reggae dialects and even soulful, stripped-down gospel, it's hard to pinpoint the album's concept -- except that it holds a barrel of anthemic, domineering sing-along records.
"We wanted another world on stage," Nettles explained to Entertainment Weekly about the album's visual concept, which they deemed "steampunk." "We wanted something fun, a visual aesthetic to be inspired by."
Still, the album -- solely written by Nettles and Kristian Bush except for 'Tonight' and the lead-off single, 'Stuck Like Glue,' which had some help from Kevin Griffin and Shy Carter -- bears some standout tracks. Although not a huge fan of the album's lead-off single, which incorporates the ongoing Auto-Tune trend as well as a reggae-driven interlude, the love tune's bubble-gum percussion keeps it a country-pop contender. Favorites, however, are the album's closer, a gospel-channeled piano ballad 'Shine the Light,' and the Lady A-sounding, acoustic-driven 'Little Miss.'

But with elements of today's mainstream pop, '80s rock, Auto-Tune, reggae dialects and even soulful, stripped-down gospel, it's hard to pinpoint the album's concept -- except that it holds a barrel of anthemic, domineering sing-along records.
"We wanted another world on stage," Nettles explained to Entertainment Weekly about the album's visual concept, which they deemed "steampunk." "We wanted something fun, a visual aesthetic to be inspired by."
Still, the album -- solely written by Nettles and Kristian Bush except for 'Tonight' and the lead-off single, 'Stuck Like Glue,' which had some help from Kevin Griffin and Shy Carter -- bears some standout tracks. Although not a huge fan of the album's lead-off single, which incorporates the ongoing Auto-Tune trend as well as a reggae-driven interlude, the love tune's bubble-gum percussion keeps it a country-pop contender. Favorites, however, are the album's closer, a gospel-channeled piano ballad 'Shine the Light,' and the Lady A-sounding, acoustic-driven 'Little Miss.'

The song is the fifth track revealed from the album, following the title track, 'Back to December,' 'Innocent' and the lead single 'Mine.'

The song was released as a single back in 1962, and is available on 'The Very Best of Wynn Stewart 1958-1962.'
As the man tries his hand as a dog walker, rodeo clown and nude model, the acoustic guitars and twanging leads on this seemingly upbeat track belies its depressing view on life as a working stiff:
"Another day, another dollar / Daylight comes, I'm on my way / Another day, Another dollar / Working my whole life away / The boss told me, I'd get paid weekly / And that's exactly how he paid / Another day, Another dollar."
Stewart was a leading figure in West Coast country music, helping to pioneer the stripped-down "Bakersfield Sound" as a reaction to the overly polished music of the day, and enjoying a steady stream of minor hit singles over his 30 year career.
